Classic bun
A simple option to try to get acquainted with your hairpins is a classic bun. Fuller hair requires less prep, e.g., just a texture spray; thinner hair may need some backcombing and possibly a more rigid product for better "grip."
- Twist the ponytail and "gather" hair from the bun in an up-down motion towards the base of the head.
- Insert the pin
French twist updo
- Prep the hair with a texture spray to provide more stability and hold.
- Hold your hairpin vertically/upright with the "prongs" pointing downwards and wrap the hair around it. One wrap for shorter hair or two wraps for longer hair.
- Rotate the "prongs" upwards and push the hairpin straight down to secure it.
- Some hair may require backcombing at the roots for sufficient grip or the use of two hairpins.
- Loosen some hair at the front as desired!
