During the cold months, it's not uncommon for hair to feel brittle, dry, flat, lifeless, and static. It's even more important to give your hair the right conditions to give you those good hair days you always dream of. Here are some of our best tips!

1) Static hair
The most effective remedy for static hair is moisture! Use a moisturizing shampoo/conditioner and, if possible, a leave-in product. The natural material silk is especially good for preventing static hair. If you haven't already tried it, try sleeping on a silk pillowcase which helps to counteract frizz and hair breakage while preserving moisture in the skin.

2) Dry gently
After washing your hair, pat and squeeze out moisture instead of rubbing it vigorously back and forth. Wet hair is delicate, so wait to brush it until it's relatively dry. A microfiber hair towel is perfect for allowing your hair to air dry, reducing damage since you can completely skip or reduce the use of a hairdryer. Also, do not use flat irons or curling irons before your hair is completely dry, as this will unnecessarily damage your hair.
3) Wash less often
Hair often feels more brittle and weaker during winter. Water is drying, and every time you wash your hair, its natural protective layer disappears, which can make your hair both frizzy and quickly greasy. Limit hair washing to a maximum of twice a week, and when you wash, massage the scalp and let the leftover shampoo lather down to the ends. Use a mild, natural shampoo regardless of the season. Apply conditioner after every wash and let it sit in your hair for a long time before rinsing it out.

4) Don't forget your scalp!
The scalp is the foundation for healthy hair! Even though hot showers feel good when the cold weather hits, avoid washing your hair in overly hot water as it dries out the scalp. Also, don't forget to give your scalp a stimulating massage. A scalp brush helps to cleanse the scalp by removing dead skin cells and product residue. The massage also boosts blood circulation and stimulates hair growth.
