Rebecca Sjöblom-Hjerppe

We spent a day with Rebecca Sjöblom-Hjerppe in Vaasa from breakfast to work. Here she shares her everyday life, her hair inspiration, her favourite moments, and of course, the best places in Vaasa.

Tell me a little about yourself

I work as an interior designer and stylist. In my job, I get to combine aesthetics, feeling, and technical planning, which I truly appreciate.

I am a person who loves coffee, creativity, beautiful environments, and spending time with family and friends.

What drives me most in my job is seeing projects take shape – when ideas, details, and visions are completed and become real. I enjoy thinking creatively, finding solutions, and challenging myself both personally and professionally.

For me, it is important that what I do feels genuine and has a clear sense of purpose behind it.

What does a perfect morning look like for you?

An optimal morning for me is calm and harmonious. I brew coffee and froth milk. The coffee moment itself is a small ritual that really sets the tone for the day.

To feel good, I also need movement early in the day, so most often I go for a walk or do Pilates in the morning.

On Saturdays, I often go to the bakery, have my first cup of coffee there, and buy bread to bring home for breakfast.

I advocate that beauty lies in the small things; I believe in small routines and rituals that create balance, making one feel more present in everyday life.

How would you describe your hair?

I like things simple and natural. I'm drawn to simple hairstyles and natural texture - things that feel timeless, relaxed, and effortless.

What are you proud of right now?

In my later years, I've learned the importance of balance and that value isn't always found in accomplishments. That might sound very basic, but it's actually something easily forgotten.

What inspires you most at the moment?

70s architecture and people who dare to change and try a new direction.

What are your go-to hairstyles or favorite stylings?

My go-to is usually blow-dried hair, worn down, with soft movement, or a stylish low bun.

Favorite place in your city?

- Aroma Bageri & konditori for the city's best coffee and croissant.

- Saluhallen for baguette and cheese.

- Vasa has many beautiful parks, especially when summer is in full bloom. Setterbergsparken and Björkparken are two of my favorites. Here you can settle down for a picnic, or just stop by during a walk.

- Gustavsborgs public bath, intended for ladies. I often cycle there on free summer days.

What is one thing most people don't know about you?

- I have a rather nerdy side and can get completely absorbed in things and details; it has to feel a certain way before I can move on :))

- I enjoy movement and meeting people, but I absolutely need alone time and quiet to recharge.

What does a perfect evening look like?

Summer - a spontaneous drink in the sun with my nearest and dearest. And perhaps a late-night swim afterwards.

The Scandinavian hair aesthetic

The Scandinavian hair aesthetic is all about natural movement, lustre, and simplicity. Hair that feels well thought out rather than styled – elegant without appearing to be trying too hard.
